LOKASI
Putrajaya merupakan sebuah bandaraya terancang yang terletak lebih kurang 25 km ke selatan Kuala Lumpur dan 20 km ke utara Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur (KLIA). Ia juga adalah pusat pentadbiran kerajaan persekutuan.

TOPONYMY
The idea of establishing a planned city which will serve as the new federal government administrative centre began in the 1980s. What was known as Prang Besar in the Sepang district of Selangor was identified as a suitable location for the new city due to its strategic location between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The new federal government administrative centre was named ‘Putrajaya’ in honour of Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj. In Malay, the word ‘putra’ (originally sanskrit) means prince or male child, and ‘jaya’ means success or victory. Therefore ‘Putrajaya’ literally means victorious men or victorious people.

TOPONOMI
