KAMPUNG BARU, KUALA LUMPUR

LOCATION
Kampung Baru is situated in the middle of Kuala Lumpur and about 1 km from Petronas Twin Towers.

Kampung Baru terletak ditengah-tengah bandaraya Kuala Lumpur dan kira-kira satu km dari Menara berkembar Petronas.

TOPONYMY
Kampong Baru (lit. Malay village) was founded in 1900 when tin mining was thriving around the Gombak and Klang rivers. In order to increase the production of tin, colonial British administrators resettled the Malay population who were living around the two rivers in a new settlement known as ‘Kampung Baru’ (new village). The new village was gazetted as a Malay agricultural settlement.  The Malays continued

TOPONOMI
Sejarah Kampung Baru  bermula pada tahun 1900 apabila aktiviti perlombongan pesat dijalankan di sekitar Sungai Gombak dan Sungai Klang. Bagi meningkatkan pengeluaran bijih timah, pihak berkuasa British memindahkan orang Melayu yang kebanyakannya tinggal di pinggir sungai tersebut ke sebuah perkampungan Melayu baru yang dikenali sebagai Kampung Baru. Kawasan tersebut diwartakan sebagai Malay Agricultural Settlement (Tanah Penempatan Pertanian Melayu).
